Blog #4
If I had a choice to meddle with time travel I would decide to go thirty years into the future. I think that although thirty years isn't a huge drastic time change, it would be enough to see a lot of differences compared to our present day in age. To start off, I picture waking up in my extremely technological home with my family. I have always pictured that cell phones and laptops will be changed and be completely wireless and hands free years from now. I think that since technology is progressing so drastically on a daily basis, in thirty years I could access anything I wanted at just the touch of a single button. It may sound crazy but I picture a hands free screen popping up in front of my face and me clicking through the screens with just a few touches. After my annual morning breakfast, I picture driving to school in either a battery controlled (non-gas filled) car or possibly be able to fly. I think in thirty years from now, fashion won't change to much. I've realized that although styles do change on a common basis, it seems very repetitive. You can see that some styles we have now were extremely popular 40-50+ years ago. I do think that styles will be different but I think the basic concept of all of them will be similar to ones in the past. I picture arriving at school and my professors using a lot of technology in the classroom. I could see the majority of the lecture being done on an overhead computer that teaches us the subject, and the students and I working on our individual laptops to practice the lessons. My curriculum would definitely be much harder than what those have learned thirty years ago. Knowledge grows on a daily basis, and to keep up with society I know my course selection would be more difficult than what those in the past would have learned. I think that between classes when I go to a student union for lunch, I will be ordering off of a computer desktop exactly what I want to eat and the food will be delivered to me after it is quickly made. On my way home from school as I'm driving in my super fast automobile, I will pass by those of a more richer side who can fly for short periods of time. I think short time flying will start to occur thirty years from now, and probably about a hundred years later the whole world could be flying or using other sorts of transportation rather than gas guzzling cars. As I'm home and begin to wind down from my busy day, I'll be able to watch some shows off of my wireless tv as my dinner is being cooked on it's own on the stove. After I finish eating I'll put my dishes into my high-tech dishwasher and get ready for bed. I'll be able to brush my teeth with my electronic tooth brush and set my portable alarm clock for the following day. I think if I took a thirty year jump into the future, I would realize many huge changes as well as hundreds of minuscule ones that occurred in just a short period of time. I think if we took maybe a one hundred year jump instead, we would see more differences and changes in the world. I actually look forward to seeing what sorts of technology, fashion, food distribution, transportation and so much more that my children and grandchildren will get to endeavor.
